WordUp is a Dictionary definition word guessing game. The player is given a definition
and has to guess the word based on the definition. The player may use a couple hints to
guess the word but that reduces their total score. Also, the player has to spell the word
correctly in order to win the round. There are three levels of play to select from,
Beginner (gets three hints), Novice (gets two hints) and Expert (gets no hints). Using
hints deducts points from the final score.
This is Singleplayer or Multiplayer game. In Multiplayer mode the first player Creates a
Room, selects the number of rounds, selects the time limit of each round and Invites
others (up to five for a total of six players) to play the game. Once all the players have
joined, the game begins with the first definition showing.
Points and Scoring: players get points for guessing the word using the definition(s). The
points given are based on the number of definitions for the word. Using the first hint
will deduct 1 point from the total score, the second hint deducts 2 points, and the third
hint deducts 3 points from the overall score. If the word is guessed on the first
definition, then the score would be 7 for a word with 7 definitions, 5 for a word with 5
definitions, etc. Additionally, the player guessing the correct word also gets points for
spelling the word correctly. The number of points is based on how many letters are in
the word. For example: guessing a 5-letter word with 3 definitions and using 2 hints
would be a total of 8 points. 5 points for the word minus 2 points for the hint equals 3.
Add 5 points for spelling the word correctly and the total would be 8 points: 5 - 2 = 3 + 5
= 8.
